ACTION NEEDED
Time for our Holiday Party!
December 14, Old World Deli
Holiday Party and Auction.
We need a few folks to help with the party planning, but most of all -- we need items for the Auction. We'll be doing both a silent auction and a traditional auction. Do you have items of value you can donate? A service? A guesthouse you can contribute for a weekend to the highest bidder? Or do you know someone we can approach for a donation? This will be a great chance for you to find holiday gifts and to raise much-needed funds for BCDems. Save the date, and contact Todd Barnhart to volunteer or to provide items for the auction.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
We will be ELECTING OFFICERS and reorganizing the BCDems this month. We do it every two years. With the great success of our last biennium, we look forward to choosing more good leaders to guide us and to help us make progress toward our goals of a peaceful, just, and inclusive community. See November 16 below.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We had a great campaign headquarters; now we need a workcrew on Saturday 11/18 to help move heavy desks, refrigerator, chairs, and tables to our storage shed. We'll meet at HQ at 10:00 am and should be finished by 2:00 pm. Call William Switzer at 990-3731.
The Communications Committee needs a couple of people to read the G-T and/or Barometer daily and to clip mentions of the BCDems for us so that we can track how we're doing in our efforts to stay in front of the public. Email/call Davi Richards, 745-3866.
IMPORTANT: We need someone to do layout for the BCDems Newsletter, our monthly mailed publication. You receive original text in MS Word via email from the editor, use InDesign, Pagemaker, or similar software with an existing template (including typefaces and logo), and upload to the printer. Usual turn-around time is 2-3 days on a pre-arranged schedule. Use of Adobe Photoshop or similar program for illustrations (no color required). Archived illustrations from past issues, and clip art are available. If you think you can help, email/call Davi Richards, 745-3866.
SUCCESSES
We helped. We re-elected our governor and our congressional representatives. We fielded great and courageous candidates who worked hard and supported our Democratic agenda with dignity. We added our energy to the campaigns, and we made great gains. That's success. Congratulations to all of our candidates and their supporters. And thank you. YOU ARE ALL WINNERS TO US.
and, to top it off...Rep. SARA GELSER was elected Assistant Majority Leader for the 2007 legislative session. Congratulations, Sara.
THANKS
from PAUL EVANS...."I am humbled by this opportunity to participate in the electoral process. As a middle class kid from a small town, I wouldn't have an opportunity to run for office anywhere else. But you helped make it happen. And even though we lost the battle, we took a significant step forward in winning the war: we showed that Democrats can compete down-state. And we reminded people that patriotism isn't the exclusive domain of the Republican Party. We will not be satisfied until every Oregonian is guaranteed opportunity, enjoys a safe environment, feels that their basic rights have been protected, and lives in an Oregon where our present and future are in balance....We have work to do. Each of us must continue to find our own ways to make our community stronger."
from SARA GELSER...."Thanks to all of you who supported my campaign in so many ways. Whether you gathered signatures to get me on the ballot in the summer of 2005, contributed financially, knocked on doors, made phone calls, took a lawn sign or simply offered me words of encouragement and high fives---- thank you! I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve my neighbors in Philomath and Corvallis. Thanks for making it possible. Many thanks also go to the tireless volunteers who called all the targetted Democrats in Linn and Benton County. The hours you spent on the telephone helped turn out voters for the Governor, Democratic legislative candidates and to defeat bad ballot measures. You all deserve a round of applause."
And a special THANKS to STAN NELSON for doing the BCDems Newsletter layout for the past two years. Creative and dependable, Stan’s been invaluable in our aim to put out a regular, professional-quality newsletter. Thanks also to Stan and Sheridan McCarthy, partners in Meadowlark Communications, Inc., for designing the new BCDems logo, which appears as the banner on the newsletter and on the 2007 brochure.
