Troops Home Fast

"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." --Mahatma Gandhi
Today, Independence Day, is Day 1 of the Troops Home Fast. The women of the peace activist group Code Pink are staging a hunger strike from July 4th until September 21st, the International Day of Peace. From 10 am to 7 pm they will be maintaining a public fast in front of the White House. Because most people are unable to go to Washington, they have called on others to organize local public fasts in their own communities, and so today, the Corvallis Troops Home Fast began as well. Our goal is to maintain a public presence in front of the Benton County Courthouse from 10 am to 7 pm daily, and have at least one person fasting each day. Participants may fast for one day, several days in a row, one day a week, or whatever works best for them. If you would like to support the cause but cannot or do not want to fast, we need people to staff the table, give out fliers, petition signatures, etc. Please contact us if you would like to sign up as a faster or as a supporter, or come down to the courthouse from 10-7 and sign up.
