The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease

Well, it shows that persistence pays off. After several letters, phone calls and e-mails, I believe that it was a chance personal encounter with Congresswoman Hooley that pushed her to finally sign on as a co-sponsor of HR 543 (a discharge petition for HJR 55, the "Homeward Bound" Act which would require President Bush to develop and implement a plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq.).... I saw her at the library a few days ago when she was here to congratulate Corvallis on its recent designation as a "Green Power Community." She got there a few minutes before Governor K, and was walking around shaking hands with folks...I was able to ask her directly why she hadn't signed on to this, and her response was "I just haven't gotten around to it." Anyway, as of today, she got around to it, and is the 112th co-sponsor, joining Reps Blumenauer (no.31) and DeFazio (no.47).
