Exporting Our Ideas: Democratic Field Headquarters
Our Benton County "Field Headquarters" was a real success last year. "Using a simple blue canopy, a folding table and chairs, some banners, and lots of buttons, handouts, signup sheets, and voter registration forms and information, we registered 1358 voters and recruited 270 volunteers. All on a total budget of about $420." Now, Benton County is exporting this great idea to other counties [more] who want to increase Party visibility and register voters with the manual Democracy in the Open: Putting Together a Field Headquarters For the Democratic Party. Carol Sweeney first envisioned the tent and nurtured it (and the enthusiastic volunteers) through the year. Barbara Cormack created the manual, drawn from experiences of Benton County Democrats.
There are many good photos: Look at for yourself at the link, below! A copy of the manual has been given/mailed to all the county Democrat Party offices in Oregon. Feel free to spread the word! If you know an active Democrat in Oregon (or any state) who might like the idea, send them the link to the page.
