Public Health Plan - June 19 Meeting
The Oregon legislature has made an attempt to get some health insurance for all the people of the state. Senate Bill 329 last session set up a board to develop a plan using a number of private insurance companies. Many people, including health care advocates and many Democrats, want the state to also develop a public plan, a non-profit organization that would compete to offer insurance for patients, alongside the private companies. On June 19, representatives of the board will be in Corvallis from 7 to 9 p.m. to gather feedback on the developing plan. If WE want them to understand how seriously we take the current health care crisis, and how passionately we want a public plan, we need to be at this meeting and be sure we are heard.
